W. Keith Brown is a Chicago-based art educator, researcher, and writer, whose practices center on contemporary art education, visual studies, and postmodern art history, theory, and criticism. Since moving to Chicago in 2006, Brown has taught visual art and art history at both the high school and community level. In 2009, he co-founded the Critical Visual Art Education (CVAE) Club. In 2010, he joined the Chicago-based artistic & pedagogical collective Stockyard Institute and serves as editor and board member for the Illinois Art Education Association. His writing can be found in Studies in Art Education, Proximity Magazine, Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art, Studio Chicago, and Chicago Art Magazine. In 2012, his work will be included in books on creativity, visual studies, and art education. Most recently, Brown accepted the Director of Education position at the Evanston Art Center and is joining the administrative staff full-time on February 1.
